Andy Stevenson believes that at the root of great marketing lays a rewarding customer experience, a philosophy that he’s carried through his work at companies of all sizes.
A lifelong advocate and practitioner of research, Stevenson served early in his career as a Research Manager at Northwestern’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management, where he worked alongside many marketing luminaries.
He brought this customer and research focus to several product marketing positions, eventually joining Dell’s fledgling consumer business in 1998. After two years building Dell’s annual consumer e-commerce revenues to nearly $2 billion—and helping grow the total revenues to $4 billion and the #1 market position—he established Dell’s first customer experience team, applying his research, analytical, and marketing skills to develop strategies that fueled the division’s continued growth to well over $10 billion.
A seasoned marketer with significant analytical, branding, creative, planning, and team development experience, Stevenson chose to deepen his e-commerce experience by leading Internet marketing and E-Commerce for Affinity Group, a $500 million provider of media, membership services, and retail products to the recreational community. There he worked with 10 different company brands, including the Good Sam Club, helping each reach record revenues.
Later, Stevenson joined Crutchfield Corporation, a mid-sized, highly regarded electronics retailer. While there he helped the company break revenue records while winning awards for customer service, “Multichannel Merchant of the Year,” and the Gold Award from Multichannel Merchant magazine for “Web Site of the Year.”
More recently, Stevenson was Vice President of E-Commerce at Williams-Sonoma, helping relaunch the company’s web site and significantly boost its acquisition efforts and revenues. His biggest thrill, however, came from his opportunity to meet Chuck Williams, the company’s founder, and work with him on company value statements while learning about Williams-Sonoma’s modest beginnings.
In his most recent position, Stevenson served as Vice President of Marketing at BrickHouse Security, a smaller company that he helped propel to its status as a member of both the “Inc. 500” and the “Internet Retailer Top 500.”
Stevenson is an experienced, employee-focused manager who works hard to enable his team and others within the company to recognize and achieve growth in their performances and careers. He brings energy and passion to any situation, qualities that, he is told, make him “a born leader” yet someone who’s a great partner and collaborator, whether he’s working with the CEO or an entry-level employee.
Stevenson lives in Manhattan and enjoys spending time with his three children, participating in sports, and serving as a mentor in a NYC-area mentoring program.
