Bill Binnig Biography

Marketing and product management executive Bill Binnig comes to Chief Outsiders with a long list of successes. He has led the creation and launch of new products and services, diversified product portfolios, created new revenue streams, and propelled companies to their next stage of growth. Businesses ranging from startups backed by venture capital to Fortune 500 companies value Binnig’s marketing innovation and his ability to produce measurable positive results. His skills include market strategy, product positioning, communications, marketing mix optimization, lead generation, and product management.

Prior to Chief Outsiders, Binnig directed the product innovation and marketing management of an interactive e-learning/e-health program and online courseware for Enterhealth, a leading behavioral health service provider and portfolio company of The Point Group. He successfully negotiated the license of this resource to a nationally recognized healthcare system and employee assistance provider. Binnig led cross-media marketing tactics including, DRTV, radio, print, SEO, SEM and direct marketing to boost demand generation for the company.

As President and CEO at CellUPay, an end-to-end mobile payments and promotions technology venture, Binnig created and implemented the strategic business plan and go-to-market strategy that launched the company. In addition to the daily operational management of the startup, he led the quest for capital and established relationships with investors, bankers, lawyers, industry analysts. He also participated in industry conferences and managed public relations.

Binnig’s achievements at the top of his field are powered by an extensive industry background, with more than 20 years of global experience in financial services, travel, healthcare, telecommunications, and high-tech. His notable product introductions over the past two decades include Travelocity, myClips by PageNet, Jaduka and others.

As Vice President of Marketing at PageNet from 1998 to 2000, Binnig diversified the carrier’s commoditized paging business with value-added wireless data services. He introduced myClips by PageNet, the nation’s first mobile Internet portal and wireless digital content distribution platform. Jaduka, a subsidiary of telecommunications service provider NetworkIP, was another of Binnig’s successful business expansion initiatives. Jaduka recast the stagnant service bureau as a growth-oriented, innovative technology provider and thought leader in the Telco2.0 space. As a founding member of Travelocity, Binnig built the sales and marketing team from the ground up, growing it into one of the most recognized brand names in travel and e-commerce. He also developed the global growth strategy that secured strategic distribution partnerships and led the company through two significant acquisitions. Binnig was a pioneer in using interactive advertising and cross-brand promotions to create trial, usage, and customer loyalty. 

Binnig holds a BS degree in Finance from the University of Southern California and an MBA degree in Marketing from Indiana University.
