Marketing and product management executive Rex Bull brings his ability to define and drive marketing strategy and tactics for small-to-midsize companies and Fortune 50 corporations to Chief Outsiders. Bull’s uniquely broad background includes more than 20 years of experience worldwide in the telecommunications and high-tech industries, with demonstrated skill and expertise in market strategy, product positioning, marketing mix optimization, lead generation, and product management.
Before joining Chief Outsiders, Bull acted as Product Line Marketing Executive at Navitaire, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Accenture that designs and develops complex software solutions for the global airline industry. Bull improved Navitaire's lead generation and management process, doubling the company's sales pipeline within six months. Directing all marketing initiatives across six continents for the Airline Operations business unit of Navitaire, Bull established the company as a leader in airline crew planning optimization. Bull had come to Navitaire after serving as Vice President of Marketing and Product Management at SoloMio, a privately held software company. At SoloMio he led the development of marketing strategies to win new customers, expand category leadership, drive product innovation, and extend the company's reach throughout Europe. He established and maintained communications with industry analysts, defined and participated in key industry forums and conferences, and managed public relations.
Prior to his position at SoloMio, Bull served as Executive Vice President of ViAir’s product management and marketing, where he expanded the company’s leading position in the wireless applications and infrastructure space through strategic product development and worldwide marketing efforts. He used PR to drive global market awareness of ViAir products, comprehensively realigned the marketing mix, and helped win the acquisition of five tier 1 and tier 2 wireless carrier customers. Bull also restructured the product management team and established the customer service and support function.
In 1999, Bull served as Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing for Concur Technologies, where he was responsible for corporate communications, product management and domestic and international business development for the enterprise software applications business. Bull preceded this post with one as Senior Director of Marketing and Product Management at Ameritech, where he managed a $1.2 billion product portfolio representing the company’s fastest growing and most profitable product line. Within just three years, he was responsible for the development and introduction of $100 million in new products.
Bull got his early telecommunications experience by spending almost ten years at GTE, where he drove $10 million in new product revenue as the senior manager of new product development. Additionally, Bull spent several years in software development for AT&T.
Bull holds an Associate degree in Applied Science, Computer Information Systems from Purdue University, a BS degree in Computer Science from North Central College, and an MBA degree in Telecommunications Management from the University of Dallas.
