Two Local Executives Join The Ranks of Chief Outsiders to Help Austin's Growing Businesses

Early-stage Marketer Dean Cruse and Fortune 50 Executive Dave Tynan Bring “Fractional Chief Marketing Officer” Concept to Austin’s Small and Mid-Sized Businesses

Austin, Texas – August 15, 2011 - Business owners and CEOs of growth-oriented companies in Austin, Texas have a new resource to tap as Chief Outsiders expands its presence with the addition of Dean Cruse and Dave Tynan to the team. Chief Outsiders is the nation’s largest executive marketing organization that connects world-class chief marketing officers, not consultants, on a fractional basis to growth and mid-size companies. The “fractional” concept provides businesses with a cost-effective solution to grow and expand by tapping into the tremendous talent pool of Fortune 50 through Global 2000 executives like Tynan and Cruse.

Both residents of Austin, Tynan and Cruse bring years of business leadership and marketing expertise to the company.

Prior to joining Chief Outsiders, Dave Tynan has worked in senior leadership capacity at a Fortune 50 company, recognized multiple times as “World’s Most Admired” by Fortune Magazine. An award-winner himself, Tynan’s achievements were recognized with multiple accolades throughout his career. His background includes high ranking positions with: Salient Systems, Avigilon, CoVi Technoloiges and Verint Video Solutions as well as GE and 3M. He is a graduate of Miami University.

Dean Cruse has led marketing, sales, business development, product development and fund raising efforts for business-to-business companies ranging in size from startups to Global 2000 organizations. Throughout his 25 year career, Cruse developed extensive experience in traditional enterprise and Internet software product marketing, lean and agile product management, public relations, demand generation, marketing automation, sales, and business development. He has consistently and successfully led the launch of new products and markets for organizations selling into a variety of vertical markets including financial services, consumer Internet, SMB retail, open source development, government and energy management. Cruse is particularly effective at defining and executing go-to-market strategy for early stage technology companies, driving awareness and demand, and accelerating them to critical mass. Prior to joining Chief Outsiders, Cruse held executive leadership positions with Zenoss, FiveRuns, PerformanceRetail, Troux Technologies, ichat, Inc./Acuity Corp., CSC Financial Services Group and Recognition International Plexus Software Group. He is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a BBA in Marketing.

“Growth strategies are subject to many external influences, especially in today’s economic climate,” said Pete Hayes, principal of Chief Outsiders. “While most CEOs know that they need to develop and implement a high-level marketing strategy to move their businesses to the next, most find the cost of an in-house senior marketing executive prohibitive. That’s why our solution of fractional Chief Marketing Officers is gaining such quick traction in the marketplace.”

The impressive portfolios of the Chief Outsiders team span across multiple industries and global expansion strategies, all focused on an ROI-based approach.

“Not only are we able to support growing businesses by placing a fractional CMO on their executive team, but they also get the benefit of the entire Chief Outsiders network which provides additional support and collaborative expertise that no business would get by hiring an in-house CMO,” added Hayes.

Having the right marketing strategy to support business growth is an ongoing concern. A recent article in Fortune Magazine entitled, "Wanted: fearless Marketing Execs", cited the expanding role required by today's marketing chief function. Reporter Jessica Shambora writes: "Thanks to the Internet, marketing now cuts across the entire organization, from customer-service reps responding to complaints on blogs to the IT department, tracking consumer web behavior."

The Chief Outsiders organization is comprised of these types of "battle tested" executives cited in the article.

Chief Outsiders is expanding nationally and currently has regional operations in the Texas cities of Houston, Austin and Dallas as well as in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia and Tennessee.
