Fortmeyer-Selan brings an impressive list of previous accomplishments to her current role as one of our Chief Marketing Outsiders. As Senior Vice President of Marketing for SunGard Energy, Fortmeyer-Selan executed a turnaround strategy that took the business from a $10 million loss to $10 million in profit in just 18 months amidst a down market. She also created a master brand that unified more than a dozen brands, repositioning the offering with segment-focused solutions that contributed to triple-digit profit growth following the company turnaround. Maintaining her focus on growth, she led analysis, delivered proposals and gave board presentations for business acquisition and sales, as well as establishing successful development teams for the Asian market.
Fortmeyer-Selan's experience in running her own firm gives her a thorough understanding of business from an entrepreneur’s perspective. She founded Agile Marketing Group in 2001 to assist technology startups and small businesses with strategic marketing and tactical services. As a part-time chief marketing officer or vice president, she guided the branding, product launch, channel development and the search for capital for 20 different mobile application, streaming media, clinical and security startups.
The creation of growth opportunities through strategic execution and collaboration has been a constant throughout Fortmeyer-Selan’s career. During her four-year tenure at Compaq as Senior Director of Solutions Marketing, she established the company as one of the early leaders in knowledge management. She built teams and channels for the company’s e-commerce, messaging and CRM solutions that generated over $490 million in incremental revenue. The 1990s saw Fortmeyer-Selan applying her product marketing and professional services management skills at NCR Corporation, where she launched major high availability, transaction processing and data management systems. As NCR/AT&T's Assistant Vice President of Global Service Offer Management and European Marketing, Fortmeyer-Selan led two businesses to over $500 million in revenue, co-created a business unit and consistently achieved the company's aggressive growth targets.
Fortmeyer-Selan began her career as a commodities analyst at an investment management firm. Here she discovered her affinity for developing businesses and moved to the technology sector, where she initiated industry marketing and opened two markets for a small computer company.
