As a CMO, Evan has created and led marketing strategies to double topline and bottom line company results, turn-around businesses to record profitability, expand B2B businesses into the B2C channels and restructured marketing organizations to optimize efficiency and dramatically improve effectiveness. Evan has worked in over 40 countries and is very adept in diverse business culture environments.
Evan started his marketing career with Nestlé in the U.S. with extended international assignments to follow in Vevey, Switzerland and Budapest, Hungary. At Energizer Holdings, as Director of Global Marketing, Evan led marketing strategy and business development for the Energizer brand across North America, Europe, Asia and Latin America. At International Paper, as a Business Manager and Director of Global Marketing, Evan led transformational market expansion strategies and product innovation for their $2B packaging group.
As CMO of privately-held Hero Group North America, Evan led a marketing organization for a wide portfolio of brands and companies, including Beech-Nut Nutrition Corporation, where Evan led in the development of marketing alliance partnerships with Disney, General Mills, Chiquita, Mott’s and Goya companies. During his tenure at Hero Group, Beech-Nut sales, profitability and market position grew to record levels competing against much bigger global companies.
As CMO of Beiersdorf, Inc., managing a diverse portfolio of personal care brands, including NIVEA, NIVEA Men, Eucerin and Aquaphor, Evan led a marketing organization of 70+ with a $100 million marketing budget. Through shifting non-working marketing expenditures into media investments, new product innovation, marketing alliance partnerships and a re-designed brand portfolio strategy, profitability and market position for Beiersdorf, Inc. grew to record levels competing against much bigger global companies.
In 2014, Evan founded Market Challenger Consulting specializing in market-based strategies for privately-held B2C and B2B companies in highly competitive categories. Evan joined Chief Outsider in 2016, bringing both his CMO and consultative marketing expertise to our Tribe.
Evan and his family divide their time between homes in Connecticut and North Carolina. Evan supports organizations which help families with special needs children.
